Son started his financial career in 1999 working in the Portfolio Management for the Swiss Government Pensions Fund Publica assisting in Fund Analysis and Selection. In 2001 Son joined UBS Wealth Management in Geneva where he held various positions in Portfolio Management, Investment Strategy and Investment Advisory for UHNWI. After completion of UBS Private Banking Diploma in 2003, Son left UBS to join funds of hedge funds company Harcourt Geneva to develop their client base in Western Switzerland and Western Europe. Prior to founding Ayaltis, Son was Senior Marketing Manager at Peak Partners SA. He was in charge for the Business Development and decisively contributed to the significant growth in AuM from well known sophisticated investors. Son graduated from the University of Fribourg with a Master degree in Finance and is CAIA charter holder.
Ernesto worked at Fidelity investments in Boston and Salomon Brothers in New York and London in the Fixed Income derivatives group. In 1998 he restructured Salomon’s LTCM fixed income derivative portfolio in extremely volatile conditions. After the spin-off of Salomon’s Arbitrage Group and of core proprietary trading at the firm he moved to the Structured Credit Trading team where he traded structured credit derivatives. He was responsible for Equity-Linked book in the fixed income trading floor, trading correlation and convertible arbitrage. Prior to founding Ayaltis, Ernesto was CIO of Peak Partner SA. The funds under his responsibility were rewarded with two InvestHedge Awards 2007 for best-risk adjusted returns in the fixed income category during the subprime crisis. Ernesto has an MBA from the Stern School of Business in New York and Mathematics from New York University.
Dr. Thomas Lips has over 25 years experience in the asset management and financial services industry. Before joining Ayaltis as an active board member, he was CIO and Head of Asset Management at AIG Private Bank between 1998 until January 2010. He started his career in 1981 at the Union Bank of Switzerland (now UBS), where he was responsible for investment advisory and financial analysis activities and chaired the Investment Committee. From 1993 until 1998 he was Chief Investment Officer at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Bank in Switzerland.
Dr. Thomas Lips chairs the Transparency Council Fund of Hedge Funds in Switzerland and he was the President of the Board of Directors of AZEK AG – The Swiss Training Centre for Investment Professionals and a former member of the Executive Committee of the Swiss Financial Analysts Association SFAA.
Dr. Thomas Lips studied economics at the Universities of Fribourg, Basel and Zurich, where he gained his doctorate.
Jürg Häusler graduated in business economics at the University of Applied Sciences in Berne in 1976 and qualified as a Swiss certified accountant in 1982. Now, he is an independent consultant at Häusler Consulting & Coaching GmbH in Zurich, Switzerland. Jürg was a former partner at Ernst & Young, Switzerland, where he spent more than 20 years of his career auditing and consulting financial services companies. Jürg Häusler is the President of the Board of Directors of Ameliora Wealth Management AG and President of the Board of Directors of ECOREAL Investment Foundation.
Manuel started his career in management consulting at The Boston Consulting Group and later worked in private equity and venture capital in Switzerland and China. Since 2007 he oversees a diversified portfolio of investments in technology growth companies and alternative assets in Europe and Asia for his family and especially his uncle Dr. Uli Sigg (the world’s largest collector of contemporary Chinese arts and former Swiss ambassador to China). Manuel sits on numerous boards of directors of technology and internet companies, collects and creates art, and is the founder of the Freedom Flowers Foundation which supports art projects connected to human rights. Manuel has a Master’s degree in Finance, Reporting and Controlling from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and Fudan University in Shanghai. He is also a CFA and CAIA charter holder.
Andrea started his financial career in 2001 working in the Risk Management department of big asset managers in Italy. In 2006 he switched to the hedge fund industry working for Mangart, one of the biggest European global macro funds, in charge of Risk Management and Operations. In 2009 he joined OneInvestments, manager of the long/short equity fund Antares and in the same year, he founded Quantyx, a service provider of external risk management for traditional and alternative asset managers. Before joining Ayaltis, Andrea participated in the creation of a systematic long/short equity fund under UCITS IV regulation and he worked on the definition of a Risk Management architecture for Credit Suisse.
Andrea has a Masters degree in Economics, a Masters in Quantitative Finance from the Bocconi University in Milan and he is a PRM and a CAIA charter holder.
Prior to joining Ayaltis, Dr. Shao worked with the FX and Money Market Position Keeping team at Credit Suisse. He was responsible for the valuation, cash flow modeling and position risk analysis systems of FX spot, derivative and short term interest products. He also has many years experience at the Six Swiss Exchange in Zurich, where he was a senior level business analyst with responsibilities for analyzing, validating and testing the market trading model for different capital markets.
Dr. Shao gained his Doctors Degree at the Harbin Institute of Technology. After that he spent four years at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) for his Post Doctoral research in computer vision and robotics.
Dr. Shao is a CFA and FRM charter holder.
Peizhu joined Ayaltis AG in March 2014. He started his financial industry career in 2007, as an Analyst for SIX Financial Information Ltd. His primary responsibility was to develop and enhance the News, TermSheet and Marketing Research delivery for financial products both plain vanilla and structured. He was responsible for the develop of monitoring and statistical tools for worldwide Market & Reference Data. Before that he worked as a quantitative developer at the Institute of Virtual Manufacturing at ETH specialising in numeric methods and database development.
Peizhu’s role in the research team is to enhance our state of the art analytical framework for the quantitative and operational research of Hedge Funds and the operational processes of Ayaltis.
Peizhu holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and a Bachelors degree from the Shanghai JiaoTong University in China.
In 2011, Mathias Piardon co-founded an award-winning quantitative, fully systematic, managed futures fund, focusing on Asian markets. Prior to this, between 2009 and 2010, he headed the Asia ex-Japan equity derivatives trading desk for Dresdner in Hong-Kong. From 1999 to 2010, Mathias worked as a senior equity derivatives trader for Calyon in London, Paris and Hong Kong, working on various books such as prop and dispersion trading. He also contributed to various client facing businesses such as structured products, market-making and retail listed products. Mathias has regularly joined panel discussions at asset management conferences. He graduated as Master in Money, Banking and Finance from the University of Birmingham in the UK and as DEA of International Economics and Finance, from the University of Orleans in France.
Paul was previously Chief Technology Officer at Peak Partners SA and Harcourt Investment Consulting AG where he was in charge of the development and implementation of the company’s information technology. Paul Shadwell has over 25 years experience in the IT requirements for the hedge fund industry. His expertise includes all aspects of computer communications, infrastructure and systems integration. He has skills in application programming as well as broad and intuitive troubleshooting expertise. Paul also planned, developed and implemented systems, including front-end and back-end functionality, for MAN Investment Products and the foreign exchange trading desk of UBS Warburg.
For the past thirteen years, Sandra has been working within the fund industry in various positions mainly in the marketing team or related to the operational parts of fund companies. Her many tasks included the relationship management with other fund companies, research support and management assistance duties. Sandra also acquired specific know how of the Hedge Funds universe while working for GL Funds, another fund of hedge fund company, as part of the investor relations team. Sandra started her career at Bank Julius Baer in the treasury department, before becoming a currency options broker in Zurich, Frankfurt and London.
Leslie re-joined Ayaltis AG in May 2015 and brings over 5 years of experience in the fund industry. She spent 3 years working for the Fund Solutions division at Bank Julius Baer & Co Ltd. as a Research Assistant answering fund related requests from the front office and supporting in quantitative and qualitative analysis of investment funds. She started her financial career in 2005 with UBS AG where she held various positions, amongst others, in Equity Sales Trading. Her responsibilities included the receipt and processing of stock, ETF and structured product orders for both direct access clients and European banks. Leslie holds a MSc in Banking & Finance from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW). She is a CAIA charter holder.
Tselha joined Ayaltis AG in January 2014 and has over 10 years of financial industry experience. She started her financial career in 1999 with a Trainee program at the Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB). After completion of the program she was further employed by ZKB as a Business Analyst, contributing to various firm web presence and Online Banking enhancement projects. In 2007 Tselha joined UBS Global Asset Management where, in her role as Client Resolution Specialist for Alternative and Quantitative Investments (A&Q), she gained extensive knowledge in the Hedge Fund Industry.
Tselha holds an MBA of the Edinburgh Business School and a bachelor degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurship from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW).
Caroline joined Ayaltis in February 2014, with over 7 years of experience in asset management and fund sales.
For the past two years, Caroline was at a single hedge fund manager responsible for marketing and sales. Before she was at Credit Suisse Asset Management, where she was responsible for pitching equity mandates and funds to international institutional clients. In 2007, she started her career in the financial industry as an equity analyst within Credit Suisse Asset Management Division in Zurich and Singapore.
Caroline holds a MA from University of London SOAS and a BSC in Economics from University of Southampton and is a CFA level II candidate.
Silvia joined Ayaltis AG in March 2015 with over 10 years of experience in the financial industry and alternative investments. Silvia’s extensive knowledge of the hedge fund industry derives from her role as hedge fund research analyst with RMF/ Man Investments. Initially her focus was on structured credit managers before switching to the Global Macro research team. Prior to joining Ayaltis, Silvia expanded her knowledge on traditional asset management at an investment consultancy boutique. Silvia graduated from the Vienna University of Business Administration with a master’s degree in Business Administration. She is a CFA charter holder.
Prior to joining Ayaltis, Lorenzo worked in the start-up environment. He was responsible for the market entry and the business development of a Zurich-based, fast-growing start-up in Ticino. He has experience in the banking sector as well, having had internships at Bank Julius Bär & Co. AG and at Banca del Sempione, where he supported the Forex Trading Team and assisted in the management of a Fixed Income Fund.
Lorenzo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen (HSG).
Gabriel has been a senior advisor and investor to Ayaltis AG since 2008. From 1996 Gabriel specialised in alternative investment advisory, structured finance, structured investment products modelling and asset management. He has been instrumental in providing alternative investment solutions, primarily Hedge Funds and Fund of Hedge Funds, to institutional investors globally and assisting corporate clients in their funding process with over $1.5 billion in capital raised. Furthermore he acts as investment advisor to a number of global institutions and family offices. He is one of the founders and managing director of S.P.A. Financial Services Ltd (2010-today) and he was one of the founders of Axia Ventures Group Ltd (2000-2010) both regulated Investment Banking Firms. He was the group Investment Manager of Cyprus Popular Bank Group (1996-2000), a member of the HSBC Group, managing a diversified portfolio of over $1 billion. He worked at Arthur Andersen/Andersen Consulting (1994-1996) and at Price Waterhouse Coopers (1989-1994). He is a graduate of Cornell University Business School in the United States, is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of the ICAEW. He studied Economics and Econometrics at Manchester University in England where he graduated with honours in 1989. He served in the Cyprus Army from 1984 to 1986.
KY Kim has over 20 years experience in the financial service and structured asset management industries. Before joining Ayaltis as a representative of Ayaltis Hong Kong, he was representative of HMC Investment Securities in Hong Kong, SVP of Standard Chartered Bank Seoul, Managing Director of BNP Paribas and RBS (formerly ABN Amro). He started his career in 1994 at the Chase Manhattan Bank(now JP Morgan), where he was responsible for investment banking and financial analysis activities both in Hong Kong and Seoul. KY was a member of the Korean Financial Investment Committee of Hong Kong and a member of the CFO Group in Seoul. KY studied for a BA at the Korea University, Seoul, Korea.
Michal joined Etops AG in 2010, a provider of operational service to hedge funds, funds of hedge funds and asset managers, as a VP – Product Manager. He is responsible for client’s Fund of Hedge Funds middle office and leading various projects to improve operational value chain and systems. Michal Meda worked at Horizon21 Investment Office in Alternative Investments as a Product Manager. In his role, he was responsible for all operational aspects of running the firm’s Fund of Hedge Funds, including portfolio valuation, FX hedging, MIS and firm’s fees reconciliation. He was extensively involved also in information systems projects related to reporting throughout the Horizon21 Alternative Investments group.
Michal Meda holds a Master’s of Science in Economy from University of Economics in Bratislava, where his major courses of study were banking, finance and investments.
Prior to joining Nectar, Radomir worked at IBM as the Lead Financial Analyst / Expense Controller for five years. His focus was on corporate HR processes within the EMEA region. He analysed and investigated spending anomalies and presented them to the management and HR representatives. As member of the Financial Operations team, Radomir worked on regular forecasts across the region. During his studies at the Faculty of Economic Informatics in Bratislava, Radomir was active within AIESEC, a world-wide student organization, where he worked as Project & Finance Manager across various projects.
